FAQ's

Can I come and have a look around before my cat is due to come in?

Absolutely, we encourage cat owners to come and see us. If you get in touch we can arrange a date and time for us to show you around, you can see our facilities and ask any question you may have.

Can I phone or email to see how my cat is settling in?

Please contact us at any time we will be more than happy to receive your call or if you are unable to call, why not ask a friend or relative to contact us on your behalf? Alternatively, drop us an email if you are able to.

Can my friend / relative come and visit my cat whilst I am away?

I’m afraid not. Past experience has shown that this can cause upset. Sometimes walking away from your pet, especially those that haven’t been left before, can be equally as traumatic for them as it can be for you.

I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a bit unfair to do it to them over and over again within a 1 or 2 week holiday! Not only can this be upsetting for them, but it can also provoke stress symptoms such as upset tummies or refusing food.

In some cases, and only if your pet is with us for a long-term stay, we can arrange for your cat to be visited, but this does depend on the character of your cat. If we feel that your cat may get upset by visitors, we can possibly arrange for you to see them but them not to see you.

What if my cat is not settling in?

In the very rare case that we are unable to do anything to settle your cat into their new environment, and we have serious concerns over their wellbeing, we will contact the person you have advised us to deal with during emergency situations (all cats must be left with at least one emergency contact number).

My cat is very nervous. How do you deal with nervous cats?

We never force your pets into greeting us – we will let them come to us in their own time. Trust is the key, so with nervous animals we will work on building that trust with your cat as soon as their holiday begins.

The cat pens do have outside areas, so if they really don’t want to be near us when we are tidying the sleeping quarters for them, they can go outside.

We are always very grateful if you can inform us at the time of booking if your pet is a tad nervous.

Every owner wants the best for their cat, and at Caerhun Cattery you will find just that. We are fully licensed by the local authority and we are committed to uphold the highest standards.
